Melvin Keller, 79, of Meriden, Kansas passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was born January 6, 1946 in Lyon County, Kansas the son of Charles and Marie Keller. He was raised at Reading and graduated from High School there in 1964. He graduated from Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia. Melvin began his teaching career at Eureka, Kansas. He later taught at Augusta before moving to Topeka in 1974. He taught special education throughout his career. In Topeka he taught at Jardine Middle School, Robinson Middle School and concluded his career teaching at the Shawnee County Detention Center.
Melvin was a soul who loved nature. He really enjoyed the Flint Hills. He was devoted to his two children. Melvin enjoyed baseball, coaching at Robinson Middle School and coaching his son’s teams having a profound impact on Jason’s playing career.
He is survived by two children, Jason Keller of Topeka and Nicole Keller of Topeka; granddaughter, Nedra Keller Gendill of Fruita, Colorado; twin brother, Marvin Keller (Sherry) of Osage City; and sister-in-law, Selma Keller of Elmdale, Kansas.
Preceding him in death are his parents and two brothers, Roger Keller in 2009 and Charles Keller in 2008. Please leave the family a message on the website below.
