Melvin LaVair passed away Friday September 19, 2025 at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in North Carolina.
Born November 3, 1943 in St. Regis Falls, NY, Melvin, was a beloved son of Ida (St. Germaine) and Alfred LaVair.
Melvin served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He married Dora Gowett in December 1973. He worked in various factories in Nashua, NH. Melvin enjoyed time with his family. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, football and the Yankees. He really loved playing poker with his brothers. He especially loved his extended family and always kept in close contact with them.
Melvin is survived by his sons Erich Lenhart and his wife Tina, David Lenhart and his wife Holly, his daughter Laura Thibault and her husband Chris.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Arthur, Charles Albert Donald, Harold, Kenneth and Robert LaVair. His two sisters Laura Boyd and Loretta Martin. A daughter Jean Lenhart and granddaughter Amanda.
He leaves behind eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his good friend Bruce Dickerson.
Local arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service with military honors will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Lake Clear, NY at 11:00 Am on Saturday October 4, 20025.
