Melvin Delano Mann, 73, of Forest, VA passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Laura Slayton Mann, with whom he shared his life and love for 54 years.
Born in Charlottesville VA on July 29, 1952, he was the son of the late Lewis Anderson Mann, Sr. and Minnie Sheppard Mann. He loved working with his tools, camping and traveling, and doing anything for his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Melanie Hoy and husband, William of Omaha, NE, Melissa Compton and husband, Gary of Powhatan, VA, and Megan Dore and husband, Mike currently deployed in Antarctica; three grandchildren, Aidan Bakke, Margaret Compton, and Benjamin Compton; brother, Lewis A. Mann, Jr. of Pamplin and his friend, Sue Fulcher; two nieces, Ashley M. Pijanowski and husband, Les and Brittany Mann; and three great-nieces, Brooke Lynn Goin, Cayla Grace Pijanowski, and Natalie Watson.
A graveside service will be held 2pm, Friday, December 26, 2025, at Pamplin Community Cemetery with Pastor Paul McLinden officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
