Melvin Douglas "Blue" Masters, 78, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Veterans Hospital in Lexington following a brief illness.
He was born in Madison County, Kentucky on November 9, 1945, the son of the late Harlan and Grace Clark Masters. Melvin was a retired electrician having owned and operated Central Electric Co. for many years. He was a member of the Union City Christian Church and a Veteran of the Vietnam war having served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. He enjoyed travelling and loved to visit the Amish Country of Holmes County, Ohio where he became personal friends with several Amish families.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Masters and Scott Masters (Monica); one daughter, Lisa Hart (Scott); three brothers, Leslie Masters (Jessie Marie), Wilbert R. Masters (Pattie), and Donald Masters (Becky); four sisters, Bernice Masters, Myrtle Berry, Ada Brandt and Mary Donahue (George); nine grandchildren, Henry Masters (Nicole), Chance Standiford, Grace Masters, Sam Masters, Riley Hart, Braxton Masters, Hartley Masters, Joe Masters, and Lucas Hart; Close friends that are like family, Kellis Metcalfe, Deann Metcalfe, Peyton Metcalfe, Noah Metcalfe, Logan Metcalfe, Olivia Metcalfe and Eli Metcalfe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Crawford Masters; two sisters, Thelma Blake and Kathy McNatt.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Chip Denief officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Masters, Kevin Masters, Michael Masters, Scott Masters, Scott Hart, Kellis Metcalfe.
His Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
