Melvin "Mel" H. North, Jr., age 76, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and all of his children.

Mel was born on April 22, 1948, in Braymer, Missouri to Melvin H. North, Sr. and Helen (Simkins) North. He graduated from Braymer High School. From there, he diligently worked many jobs in the manufacturing industry and in sales.

Mel had a love for the outdoors, especially camping at the Buffalo River and golfing. Most importantly, Mel had an enduring faith in Jesus and was currently an active member of the Humboldt, Kansas Faith Assembly of God Church. Some of his best days were spent with his family, whether it was a camping trip on the river, or cooking some of his amazing chili for all his kids and grandkids.

Mel was preceded in death by both parents; an infant sister; brother, Terry North; son, Gary North; and son-in-law, Ben Ballard.

He is survived by his wife, Carol North, whom Mel affectionately called Babe; sister, Dianne Martin; children, Teri (Chris) Battershell, Darin (Jill) Klingensmith, Brad (Julie) North, Cari (Corey) Gray, Sari (Scott) Williams, Kim Ballard, Brett (Saundra) North, Brandon (Gina) North, and Kristin (Barney) Barnett; daughter-in-law, Tami North; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and friends and family who will miss him greatly.

A Celebration of Life for Mel is planned for Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Assembly of God Church in Humboldt, Kansas. Family will greet people from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. the day of the service at the church. Inurnment will follow at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Biblesta Committee or to Faith Assembly of God Church, and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54 in Iola, Kansas.
