Feuerborn Family Funeral Service - IolaKent Douglas Uitts, age 68, of Iola, Kansas, passed away February 13, 2026, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. Doug was born February 1, 1958, in Iola, Kansas, to Pauline W. (Uitts) Cole.
Doug worked as a fire fighter and truck driver. He married Lori Gilbert on September 4, 2012, in Creston, Iowa.
Doug liked riding horses, motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and he loved spending time with his grandkids and family. He enjoyed the outdoors. Doug loved doing karaoke, and he found great pleasure in playing his guitar and banjo. He was a ham radio operator and like talking to his friends on the radio.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Mark Summers.
Doug is survived by his wife, Lori Gilbert; daughter, Kathy (Mathew) Brownfield; step-daughter, Maria (Tommy) Sanchez; brother, Les Summers; sisters, Lisa (John) Burt, Tracy (Rodney Andres) Akin; and numerous other friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
