Mr. Melvin Willis Alewine was born June 30, 1972, in Saluda County, SC. He was the son of the late Mr. Freddie Alewine and Priscella Smith Alewine Martin.
He departed this earthly life December 29, 2025 at the Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, SC, after a brief illness.
Melvin was baptized and raised in the Reedy Branch Baptist Church family.
Melvin was educated in the Edgefield County School System (Strom Thurmond High School). But at an early age he did what many of his male counterparts did , He had to go to work to help his family. He was employed with Amick Farm for many years until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his parents .(Pricella Alewine Martin and Freddie Alewine), a sister Mattie Stevenson, and two grandchildren, Promise Chinn and Jayla Chinn.
Melvin leaves to love cherish and honor his memory: a devoted friend, Kendra Smith, of the home, four daughters, Shaquanna Alewine (Dexter), Alyssa Alewine, LaWanda Alewine (Rashad), all of Johnston, SC; Alexis Alewine, Aiken, SC; two sons, Freddie Alewine of the home and , Melvin Alewine, Jr. (Jasmine), Dillion, SC; a brother, Frontis Alewine(Min. Jennifer Smith Alewine) ; two sisters, Rosa Robertson, Aiken, SC and Pricilla Coates, (David Mack), Johnston, SC and a host of nieces, nephews aunts, uncles other relatives and friends. Services will be 12 Noon Friday at the Amos & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Johnston, SC. Min Jennifer Smith Alewine will officiate and Bishop A. Hyman will be the Eulogist.
