Melvin Howard Roberts Jr., age 67, passed away on October 16, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
Born with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Melvin was known for his sense of humor, generous spirit, and his signature catchphrase — “holy moly!” A true character in every sense, Melvin had a way of lighting up a room and putting a smile on anyone’s face. Whether he was cracking a joke, playing a game of pool, or sharing a drink with friends, he brought laughter and life wherever he went.
Melvin was a hard worker throughout his life, with a strong background in construction, plumbing, electrical, and siding. He took pride in his work and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Roberts Sr. and Diana Roberts, and his beloved son, Eddie Eugene Roberts.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Roberts; his siblings, Michele Davidson, Terry Makeliam, and Kim Gurrero; his cherished granddaughters, Kimberly Roberts, Kayla Kelly, and Alexis Kelly; and his treasured great-grandsons, Oliver Roberts and Camden Kelly. He is also survived by his stepmother, Sherry Roberts; his stepson, Allen Birdwell; stepdaughter, Amanda Cothran; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Mickey Warren.
Melvin’s life will be celebrated with a visitation on Tuesday, October 21, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN.
He will be remembered for his bold presence, generous heart, and the laughter he brought into the lives of so many. He may be gone, but his stories, spirit, and “holy moly” moments will live on.
