Melvin Scott Obituary
Melvin Leslie Scott, a longtime resident of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born in Centrahoma, Oklahoma, on February 22, 1933, to Leslie Melvin Scott and Effie (Jesse) Scott.
As a concrete contractor, Melvin owned his own business and retired from working at Oklahoma University. He believed in hard work, but he enjoyed hunting coyotes, raising hunting dogs, and singing.
Melvin married Valarie Russell on December 2, 1994, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He treasured memories made with his family. He loved God and was a minister for many years.
Melvin was preceded in death by his son, Rick Scott.
Loving survivors are his wife, Valarie; sons: James Scott, David Scott and wife, Mara, and Joe Scott and wife, Jenny; Valarie’s sons: Eric Russell and wife, Lorie, and Travis Russell and wife, Marsha; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, 10:00 am, at AE Funeral Services Chapel, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.
