Melvin E Werling

Melvin E. Werling, 90, of Wapakoneta, passed away 8:30 a.m., Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Otterbein-Cridersville. He was born May 1, 1935, in Sidney, OH, the son of the late Gust and Ruth (Martin) Werling. On June 27, 1953, he married Eileen M. Louth and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2020.
Survivors include,
2 children,Lynn E. (Sally) Werling, Wapakoneta,
Teresa M. (Sean) Silver, St. Marys, OH;
9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Melvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia E. Perez and a sister, Margaret Case.
Mel retired as a route salesman from Pepsi-Cola, Lima, after over 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moulton, OH. Mel was a graduate of Blume High School and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 691, Wapakoneta. He liked to do puzzles and collect tractors. He and Eileen enjoyed camping and were members of the Fireside Campers. Mel also was a former member of the Wapakoneta Police Department Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Eley Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Melodi Hagen officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m., Thursday, November 6, and 1 hour prior to the service, Friday, at the funeral home.
