In Loving Memory of Melvin Douglas "Doug" Yamnitz

March 13, 1942 - December 27, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, and friend, Melvin Douglas Yamnitz, who left us on December 27, 2023. He was 81 years old.

Born on March 13, 1942, Doug lived a life filled with passion and adventure. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Whether he was casting a line at his favorite fishing spot, hunting with his son or family members, or simply appreciating the sunsets on the beaches in Gulf Shores, his connection with nature was profound.

A die-hard Alabama football fan, Doug proudly wore his team colors and cheered passionately for the Crimson Tide. Saturdays were not just days of the week but moments of camaraderie and shared victories.

In his professional life, Doug enjoyed his early years in the grocery business and later the world of sales for various industries where his charismatic personality and genuine connections with people allowed him to excel. His dedication and work ethic were evident, and he built lasting relationships throughout his career.

Doug will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the countless memories he created with family and friends.

He is survived by Barbara Yamnitz, his loving wife, his devoted children Lisa Yamnitz-Romero (Javier Romero) of Santa Fe, NM, Gregory Douglas Yamnitz of Ashburn, GA, Mary Melanie Baranski (Greggory Baranski) of Phoenix, AZ and grandchildren Brentley Yamnitz Watson, Logan Baranski, and 1 great grandchild Marley Watson. ln lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation in Melvin Douglas Yamnitz's memory.

A celebration of Melvin Douglas Yamnitz's life will take place in mid-October 2024 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to deliver his ashes. Friends and family will be invited to join to honor and remember the remarkable life of this cherished man. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty and light he so loved.
