Meredith Stengel Obituary

Meredith A. (Reno) Stengel, of Richboro, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at St. Mary Medical Center. She was 78 years old.

Meredith was the beloved wife of Robert J. Stengel. The couple had shared 55 years.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Meredith was the daughter of the late Anthony J and Mathilda Knapp Reno. She was also the mother of the late Matthew Eric Stengel.

Meredith was a graduate of Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in New York City and earned her BSN from St. Francis University. During her 52 year nursing career she worked at several hospitals including Mount Sinai, Penn-Presbyterian, Easton, St. Lukes and finally 34 years at Holy Redeemer in Meadowbrook, PA. She was the ultimate professional caregiver. Her empathy for others was always evident in her work and in her life. Everyone who met her immediately felt her warmth, kindness and generosity. She was the wonderful, loving, supportive, glass half-full matriarch of her family. She was a remarkable and selfless mother and wife. The eternal love of her husband Robert. She lit up the room with her smile and family stories and could calm any storm with her comforting words. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent chef. Her Italian red "gravy" was "to die for" and she taught her sons to create it. She loved reading books and exchanging them with her friends, outdoor activities, holiday meals and visits with family and friends, creative hobbies and sightseeing drives in the countryside often with stops for antiquing or similar activities.

In addition to her husband Robert, Meredith will be missed by her sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Stengel and Scarlett Ma and Mitchell Stengel; her grandchildren Tylor, Ethan, Hadrian and Athena; and her great grandchildren, McCoy and Joni. She is also survived by her siblings, Nanette and James DiDomenico, Jeanine Reno and Anthony Jr. and Robin Reno, her sister-in-law, Susan Brooke, her loving nieces Adrienne Reno and Andrea McElvaine, nephews Anthony Reno III and Guido DiDomenico, great nieces and nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends may greet Meredith's family on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 10:00 am, until the start of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. Vincent dePaul RC Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954.

Her Interment will take place privately, on a different date, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
