Merilyn Smith Obituary
Merilyn Kay Heustis Smith, age 87; went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2025 while being cared for at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC.
Merilyn was a native of Ohio and was a retired Registered Nurse. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence Merle and Irma Dodds Heustis.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clarence William "Bill" Smith; one son, Mark Smith and wife Linda; one daughter, Kristen Smith; one brother, Ronald Keith Heustis and wife Donna; two grandchildren, Evan William Smith and Emily Joan Smith.
A celebration of Merilyn's life will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel, 118 College Ave. Rutherfordton, NC 28139 with Rev. Jack Crain officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, P.O. Box 336 Forest City, NC 28043.
