Merle Dean Adams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away November 8, 2025, in Jerome, Idaho, at the age of 80. Born on November 28, 1944, in Nevada, Missouri, Merle lived a life rich with hard work, dedication, and love for his family.
Merle's career was diverse, spanning several fields. He worked as a farmer, mechanic, and long-haul truck driver, embodying a strong work ethic and unwavering determination. His time spent in these professions not only showcased his skills but also reflected his commitment to providing for his family.
A proud graduate of high school, Merle also served his country in the Army from August of 1963 until January 7, 1966. This service instilled in him a deep sense of honor and responsibility, which he carried into all areas of his life. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Merle was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, activities that brought him joy and relaxation. He cherished his time spent with his loyal old dog, Duke, who brought comfort and companionship to his life.
On September 18, 1972, Merle married the love of his life, Eileen Phillips, in Buhl, Idaho. Together, they, raised a family of four daughters: April Adams, Eryn Waite, Kimberly Hill, and Elizabeth Adams. Merle took great pride in being a grandfather to seven grandchildren: Dakota, IreLynn, Jaeda, Berkley, Jacob, Drew, and Dakoda, each of whom brought warmth and joy to his heart.
Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Vestal and Leah Adams; a sister; and a grandson. Though he leaves behind a profound sense of loss in his absence, the impact of his life will continue through the stories and memories shared by those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held on November 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Main St. in Buhl, Idaho. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
The legacy Merle Dean Adams leaves behind is one of strength, resilience, and unconditional love, everlasting in the hearts of his family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
