Merle Lewis Beverlin Jr.

Merle Lewis Beverlin, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, January 13 at University of Iowa Hospital with his wife by his side. Merle was born on January 28, 1957, in Muscatine, Iowa. He grew up in Andalusia, Illinois and moved to Iowa City. On October 29, 2016, he married Janet Enderle at the Iowa City Moose Lodge.

Merle was a member of the Iowa City Moose Lodge 1096, Jackson MO Lodge 2702, and the Kirksville MO Lodge 1751. At his home Lodge he served as Vice President of the Board of Officers. He also held other offices on the Board throughout his years as a member. Merle joined the Iowa City Moose Lodge in May 2010, joined the Moose Legion in May 2011, and received his Fellowship Degree of Honor in 2019. He was affectionately known as the "Moose Greeter" because he always made sure to say hi, shake a hand, or give a hug to everyone that enter our Lodge.

He worked at IAC and Alpla in Iowa City as a fork truck driver before retiring.

Merle enjoyed watching Pittsburgh Steelers football, Hawkeye football, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Enderle, and stepson, Travis Tuschhoff of Iowa City.

Merle was preceded in death by his father, Merle L Beverlin, Sr of Muscatine, IA and his stepdaughter, Misty Ziegler of Cape Girardeau, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Iowa City Moose Lodge on January 31, 2026 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM.
