Merle LeRoy Jenkins, 78, husband of Susan Jenkins, entered into his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
Merle was born in Anaheim, California but had lived in the Augusta area for 35 years. He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church and was involved with the Alleluia Community. Merle retired from the U.S. Navy as an E8 Senior Chief and then retired from Savannah River Site. Merle was a volunteer Chaplain with Piedmont Hospital. He was an avid golfer and worked security with The Masters golf tournament. Merle loved his California sports teams, including the USC Trojans, LA Rams and LA Dodgers.
Family members in addition to his wife Susan include his son: Kevin Jenkins and wife Ruth and their children Nohelia Rivera, Stephanie Marie Jenkins and April Jenkins; daughter: Kristin Jenkins; brother: Claude Jenkins and wife Beverly; sister: Carol Dietrick and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Mona Jenkins.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. The funeral will be held following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Jeff Miller officiating.

Interment will be private at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.
