Merle Udean Peterson, 74, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at the home of his daughter Lisa Jovee and son-in-law Edward in Glenpool, Oklahoma. He was born on July 15, 1951 in Chester, Oklahoma, to Loren and Iola Peterson. Merle served in the Navy from December 8, 1970 to March 7, 1975. On June 30, 1978, Merle married Linda Peterson and built their life in Oklahoma.
He enjoyed woodworking, mowing his lawn, tinkering in his garage and was an avid OU football fan. He was dedicated to his wife, Linda and enjoyed his summers with his grandchildren. He had made his home in the Chouteau area for the last 30 years, after moving from Yukon, Oklahoma.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Iola Peterson. His wife Linda Peterson. He is survived by his son Charles Ronald Egger Jr of Cushing, OK; daughter Lisa Jovee and husband Edward of Glenpool, OK; five cherished grandchildren-Casey Brauner, Charles Egger III, Lauren White, Caleb Egger, and Megan Mockerman-as well as numerous great-granchildren, extended family, and friends.
Graveside services for Merle will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Chouteau West Cemetery with Reverend Jerold Pilant officiating.
