Merle Ruth (McIntosh) Vahlkamp, 88, of Houston, Texas passed away on September 28, 2024. She was born on December 30, 1935 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Verney Eugene and Beatrice Lucille (Buck) McIntosh. Merle lived for music. She enjoyed playing the organ at the church, was a past choir director, and took great pride in putting on musical events at the various churches where she worked. Merle was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Missouri City. This loving mother, grandmother, and friend will truly be missed.
In addition to her parents, Verney and Beatrice McIntosh, Merle is preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Edwin Emil Vahlkamp, Jr.
Survivors include her children, Gretchen Vahlkamp Danly (husband Dr. David Danly), Ingrid Vahlkamp Stassi (husband Joe Stassi), and Alfred Edwin Emil Vahlkamp III (wife Erinn Vahlkamp); grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Danly, Elizabeth Theresa Danly, Abby Marie Vahlkamp, Michael Daniel Stassi, William Ross Vahlkamp, Maria Nicole Danly, Grace Olivia Vahlkamp and Rachel Claire Vahlkamp, along with extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church, 3900 Lexington Blvd., Missouri City, Texas, 77459. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Pallbearers will include Michael Stassi, William Vahlkamp, Win Vahlkamp, Joe Stassi, David Danly and Christopher Danly.
