Merna Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davis Funeral Home on Jul. 26, 2024.
Merna Helen (Pettegrow) Johnson, 97, died July 24, 2024, at Nashua Crossings assisted living facility. Merna was born February 28, 1927, in Larrabee, Maine, daughter of Elmer and Lottie (Larrabee) Pettegrow.
Upon graduation, Merna worked in Augusta at the Maine State House. After marrying Fred Johnson, they moved to Dracut, Massachusetts. When their daughter was grown, she worked at Honeywell in Lowell, Massachusetts. Upon her husband's retirement, they moved to Rockwood, Maine on Moosehead Lake. They eventually became "Snowbirds" and spent 14 winters in Sarasota, Florida.
Merna cherished time with family and friends. She spent time talking on the phone, sending hundreds of greeting cards a year, and visiting with loved ones. She loved planting flowers, watching for hummingbirds, and reading.
Merna was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred Johnson, before moving to Nashua. Merna spent twelve years living at Nashua Crossings. Thank you to all the caregivers for their time, their service, but especially their friendships.
She is survived by her daughter, Louanne Johnson, of Nashua, New Hampshire; two granddaughters and their husbands, Inga and Kevin Michalewicz of Merrimack, NH, Melissa and Gerald Talty of Hudson, NH; and four great grandsons, Jake, Ian, Aaron, and Brett.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, August 1 at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock Street, Nashua, NH. An additional service will be held in Yarmouth, Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Every day when I saw. Whether it was in the morning , mid afternoon or in passing. It was a joy and a privilege to be able to say that I knew her. I am forever grateful for all the times we had .
