Merry Jane Koetter, age 69, of McCook, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at her sister’s home in Hill City, Kansas.
Merry was born on May 11, 1956, in Rapid City, South Dakota, adopted by her parents, Maryan and Cliff Casjens.
She attended grade school in West Lafayette, Indiana and Lincoln Nebraska, and graduated from Oberlin High School in 1974. She attended dental school at Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska after graduation, and worked at Dental Offices in Lincoln, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado.
On August 6, 1999, she was united in marriage to Michael Koetter in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They made their home on a farm in Red Willow County, northeast of McCook, after living in Denver, Minneapolis, and Lincoln. Merry was a busy and devout farm wife and homemaker.
She enjoyed family and countless family gatherings throughout her years. Her door was always open and there was always a seat at her table. Merry could be found cooking, baking, lending a hand, and her heart for family and friends.
Preceding Merry in death were her parents, Maryan and Cliff Casjens.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Micheal Koetter of McCook, NE; identical twin sister Terry and brother-in law Randy Davignon of Hill City, KS; nephew Logan Davignon of Tribune, KS; her beloved pets, Scouber, Lilly, Dalila and Sampson; as well as a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in her name to the McCook Humane Society, PO Box 13, McCook, NE 69001.
A public visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
