Merwin Errol Jasper – Windham

Merwin “Errol” Jasper, 87, passed away January 16, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Westbrook, the son of the late Merwin V. and Lillian (Libby) Jasper. He grew up in Windham and often helped out at his grandfather Libby’s farm. Errol graduated from Windham High School, class of 1958. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Beal and settled in Windham. Shortly after his marriage in 1961 Errol was drafted and served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. When he returned home from service he was greeted by his wife and met his seven-month-old daughter. Errol and Donna raised three children and enjoyed over 64 years together.

Errol retired from a long career as a truck driver at Shaw’s with over two million miles of safe driving. He continued working part-time as a courier driver for Windham School Department where he enjoyed helping and interacting with the staff.

Errol and his wife traveled throughout Maine, the Country and abroad. Some of his travel highlights include kissing the Blarney Stone, hugging a red wood, catching salmon in Alaska and watching the sun set on a beach in the Virgin Islands. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing at his camp in Byron, Maine. Errol spent summers hosting cookouts, swimming and boating with his family and friends on Dundee Pond. Baking became one of Errol’s favorite pastimes. He enjoyed trying new recipes, but cakes and pies were his specialty.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Eloise and daughter Laurie. Surviving are his wife Donna, daughter Susan and her partner Diane, son James and his wife Samantha, grandchildren Graham and Parker along with many cousins.

The memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday Feb. 7, 2026, at Windham Hill UCC located on Windham Center Road. Followed by a reception at the Parish Hall.
