Lillian Jasper Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fir Lane Memorial Park, Funeral Home, Chapel & Crematorium on Jan. 24, 2026.
Mrs. Lillian N. Jasper was born on November 27, 1935, in Brewton, Alabama, to Rev. Thomas Willis Lewis and Mrs. Rosie Mae Lewis. As one of twelve children, she grew up surrounded by family and faith. On January 18, 2026, Lillian peacefully transitioned into the arms of her Lord and Savior.

A devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she served as head of the Christian Board of Education, implemented the Sisterhood breakfast, and was a member of the Ruth Circle. Lillian also truly loved bowling in Shiloh's Christian bowling league. Additionally, she served as President of the Black Women's Caucus and President of the Zeta Phi Beta Tacoma Chapter. Her interests included playing games on holidays-whether you wanted to or not.

Richard and Lillian were blessed to go on many excursions during their lifetime together. Their travels included most of Asia, Israel, the Caribbean Islands, and the United States. Lillian instilled arts and culture into her children's lives by taking them to ballets, plays, and sites of Native American history.

After marrying Richard Lawrence Jasper, Lillian graduated from Alabama A&M University and began her career as a passionate kindergarten teacher. She served for 33 years in the Clover Park School District, touching countless lives until her retirement. She continued her education with studies at the University of Puget Sound and Western Washington University.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Jasper, and her firstborn son, Thomas Gregory Jasper.

Lillian is survived by her sister, Doris Christine Crewell; Leonida Jasper (widow of her eldest son); her son Mitchell Jasper and his wife Josephine; and her twin daughters, Leslie Boyle and her husband Christopher, and Lisa Rowell and her husband Hosea. Her grandchildren include Maurice Jasper, Lillian Kroll, Evette Jasper, Darren Courtney Jr., Aaron Jasper, and Marissa Jasper. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her extended family, friends, and former students, all of whom were touched by her kindness and wisdom.
