Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home - Fairfield on Nov. 9, 2024.
Meta Wright Politi, age 98, a lifelong Fairfield resident and the beloved wife of the late Victor D. Politi, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, November 7, 2024. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Robert and Louise Wright, Meta was a graduate of Bedford Hills High School, Bedford, NY and The Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. Meta went on to become a Registered Nurse and worked in the Labor and Delivery Department at Bridgeport Hospital for over thirty-five years. She was a participant in the delivery of each of her nine grandchildren.
In her younger years, Meta was an avid bowler in both a morning and an evening league. Meta loved to garden in both her greenhouse and her yard and she always had a collection of poor over or under-watered plants that she would try to nurse back to health. At the age of sixty years, she earned her pilot's license and flew throughout New England with Vic. An avid traveler, she visited many parts of the United States and Europe. Meta's most treasured talent was her ability to draw and paint. Countless pieces of her artwork can be found hanging in her family's homes.
Meta was soft spoken, friendly and kind. Her loving touch with a newborn baby was unsurpassed. She was never one to fully express her emotions, but her love for family and friends ran deep. When she made friends, they were connected forever.
She is survived by her three devoted children, Peggie Sudak and her husband, Paul of Bethany, Amy Wallace and her husband, Thomas of Seymour, Douglas Politi and his wife, Maureen of Easton; her nine grandchildren, Michael (Carrie), David(Lynsi) and Tanya(Paul) Sudak, Sean(Laura) and Meghan(Ernesto) Qualey, Meta(Mark) Hoppes and Caroline(Dan)Kendall, Peter and Matthew(Marial) Politi; and her 7 great grandchildren, Morgan, Skyler, Maddie, Theo, Callie, Maeve and Emma. Meta is also survived by countless nieces, nephews and her energetic little dog, Daisy.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Patrick and Bruce, two sisters, Nancy Bosse and Mary Goodrow and her brother, Peter Wright.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 661 Old Post Road in Fairfield with interment to follow in the Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that all donations be made in her memory to Yale New Haven Hospice Program, 753 Boston Post Road, Suite 200, Guilford, CT 06437.
