Mia Courtney Brewer, age 59, of Clinton, NC passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 17, 2025. She was a cherished mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.
She was born in Wilmington, NC March 6, 1966 to the late Bobby Byron Courtney and Mary Nicholas Courtney. She later moved to Clinton, NC graduated from Clinton High School, and went on to receive her Associates degree from Sampson Technical College. She later served as a dedicated employee at Steel Technologies for 33 years.
Mia leaves behind her loving children Byron Scott Brewer of Clinton, NC and Courtney Shea Brewer of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Vicki Courtney Gibson and brother-in-law Eddie Gibson of Wilmington, NC, stepbrother Richard Landes and wife Donna of Clinton, NC.
The family would like to pay special recognition to chosen family, Jackie and Jayne Gee who have supported Mia, and the family, all through the years. To the entire team in the STICU at Novant Health Center of New Hanover, our sincerest thank you for your care, concern, and compassion throughout our stay. Lastly, to Dr. David Weatherford, our heartfelt gratitude for your expertise and most importantly your kindness.
A Visitation will be held in Clinton, NC, Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 at the First Baptist Church (408 College Street Clinton, NC 28328). The family invites all who knew Mia to attend and share their memories.
A Visitation will also be held in Wilmington, NC, Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 at the Banks Channel Beach Club (10 Channel Avenue Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480. Parking is very limited; please carpool as able).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare.
