Mia Short, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 24, 1966, in Manila, Philippines, to Drs. Rogelio and Elvira Cabrera.
Mia is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Jeff; her cherished son, Jeremy; her mother, Elvira Cabrera; her siblings, Margarita (Tim) Geleske, Ray (Dori) Cabrera, and Lisa Cabrera; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Rogelio Cabrera.
Mia was a proud and caring mother to Jeremy, whose constant and beautiful smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. As an endearing wife to Jeff, she brought joy and love into every day of their life together.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:45am with funeral mass at 11:00am on Friday, August 16, at St. Anne Catholic Community, located at 120 N. Ela Street (corner of Franklin and Ela Streets) in Barrington.
Mia’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
