Thomas Stephen Costello, 79, of Barrington Hills, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Tom was born in Chicago on September 10, 1946, to parents Thomas John and Agnes Marion (nee Palmer) Costello. He was incredibly proud of his education and was a graduate of the University of Illinois, Northwestern University, and the Harvard Executive Leadership Program. Tom was a telecom executive and proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he faithfully served as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. He was the commander of the 264 Telecommunications Squadron and supported NATO.

His greatest source of pride was his family, and Tom was a devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. He married Margaret Dolatowski on August 9, 1969, and together they raised their two children. He was a wonderful grandpa and a constant presence at his grandchildren's baseball and softball games.

Tom was energetic and loved to try new things with some of his favorites being sky diving, scuba diving and skiing. He lived his life to the fullest and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret Costello, his son, Jonathan (Ann) Costello, his grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, and Erin, and his sisters, Nancy (Tom) Duracka, and Sue (John) O’Boyle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Jennifer A. Costello.
