Micah Schmidt Obituary
Published by Legacy on Aug. 27, 2025.
Micah Reed Schmidt was born on June 11, 2003, and was taken from us unexpectedly on August 23, 2025, at 22 years old.
As a child, Micah was mischievous and always game to have some fun. His school years are filled with memories from classmates and teachers of hilarious, and sometimes naughty, escapades. Going on hunting and fishing adventures with Dad was a childhood highlight. Micah was blessed with extra protectors - especially his brothers, uncles, and close friends who loved and cared for his well-being. Summer days and the hours after school were often spent with his brothers and uncles, learning a host of different skills. From his brothers' many projects came endless requests for help, and Micah never failed to lend a cheerful hand. Fencing and transmissions were things learned from Uncle Keith. Working with Uncle Jeff in the soap business, he acquired the talent to make easy and genuine connections with customers. As he made money, the willingness to help anybody continued, even when he couldn't afford it.
Fly, crash, or burn! This was Micah. He lived out loud, sometimes accident-prone - proven by two helicopter rides to area hospitals. His family lovingly called him Puddles because of his frequent spills. An easy smile, infectious laughter, his southern drawl, and a readiness to talk to anyone he met, will always be remembered.
At 16, Micah moved to Idaho to live and work with a family harvest crew. They embraced him, loving him as their own. It was there Micah gave his heart to God, resulting in an exuberant, peaceful young man. Even in life's rough patches, Micah remained the same soft, little kid we all knew and loved. When he made a mistake, he was quick to apologize, sometimes with tears in his eyes.
Becoming a dad at the young age of 20 didn't hinder him from loving his 2 little babies very much, and he cared for them with such gentleness.
Those left with broken hearts are his Dad Wendell and Mama Sondra K., his son, Zy 2 years and daughter, Ella Rose 1 year. Companion and mother of his children, Shunti; brothers, Jesse and wife Azia, children, Allie, Benjamin, and Jeremiah, Matt and wife Katelyn, children Mia, Oliver, and Edison, Levi, and wife Jandy, child Van, all of Deridder, Louisiana; sister, Laura, and husband David Unruh, child Lewis, from Grandview Idaho; along with special Uncle Jeff and Aunt Gwennie and cousin Hayden; Papa & Granny, Uncles and Aunts, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his little brother Joshua Wade, Grandpa Tracey, Aunt Shannon, and an infant nephew, Timothy.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Thursday, August 28, 2025, with the funeral service being held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at Highland Mennonite Church, 171 Mennonite Church Loop, DeRidder, Louisiana.
