Mehaw Adamski: He lived. He Died. (1953-2025)
It's been a good life. Nice knowing you. God Bless. And Good luck!

...That's what Mike wanted to say about himself. Now with that out of the way-
Michael Leon Adamski died on Monday, August 18, 2025, in the nursing home in Hallock, MN, under the care of hospice.
He was born on March 3, 1953, in Warren, MN, to Peter and Cecelia (Dolney) Adamski. He was raised on the family farm in Wanger Township, near Florian, and spent his best years there both during and after childhood. He was supposed to graduate with the Stephen High School Class of 1973, but entered the Army instead in 1972, serving in Germany. By some miracle, the day before he was to receive orders to deploy to Vietnam, the orders changed and he stayed put, doing maintenance in Landstuhl, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1975, returning to Marshall Co. and working construction for Frank Borowicz. Mike later moved out to the family farm, where he grew silage grains and hay, ran a calving operation, and cared for his cattle. He always said they knew more than he did, and were connected to the spiritual world in a special way.
But Mike was connected in a special way to the spiritual world himself. A "Holy Fool" maybe, Mehaw was a huge joker, but also extremely open: a person you felt comfortable sharing with for some reason. He said he could "feel it" when someone died, and spoke about death with a cavalier attitude. If asked how he was doing, how often were you met with: "I'm still cheatin' the undertaker," or "I'm on the green side of the grass?" Every time he entered the house he said the polish blessing "Niech bedzie pochwalony Jezus Chrystus" (Praised be Jesus Christ): every time he passed the cemetery he chanted "May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace." He loved his faith; the Rosary; and Assumption Catholic Church, where he was the cemetery sexton for decades.
And while inside he may have been a unique kind of mystic, on the outside, what you saw is what you got. Mehaw's huge beard, flame-patterned hat, and bib overalls were par for the course, whether in the pews, in the fields, or on a motorcycle- and he had a few. He favorites were the 1938 Knucklehead and 1976 Shovelhead. In 1980, Mike and his brother, Larry, took a fabled trip to Sturgis... and came home with a dog, cleverly named Sturgis. He doted on all his dogs, including D.O.G., Pies (Polish for "dog), and Jingles.
All this to say maybe Mehaw summed it up best himself:
It's been a good life. Nice knowing you. God Bless. And Good luck!
He is survived by his siblings, Helen (Scott) Kight, Diane Adamski, Larry Adamski, and Joann (Ron) Kram; sister-in-law, Diane (the late, Peter) Adamski; nieces and nephews, LaRae Kram, Bridget (Jeremy) Scheeler, Matthew (Cassandra) Adamski, Aaron (Amy) Adamski, Rebecca Adamski, Danielle (Dave) Saeger, Carolyn (Vitaliy) Bondar, Claire Adamski (Miranda), and Rose (Joel) Erickson; and his many, many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Peter; and all those folks he loved over in what he called the "East Parking Lot" of Florian; the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Assumption Catholic Cemetery, HIA Hospice, or the Stephen American Legion.
Rather than send thank you cards, Mike's family wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who provided Mike with care these last years, and especially to all who visited, prayed for, or thought of him in his last days.
