Mike never refused to help a younger lawyer on their career path, and was generous beyond what passes for normal regarding his efforts to advise and connect young lawyers. He was witty, fun and thoughtful in person and great to spend time with professionally and personally. God bless Mike and his family and may his memory be a comfort and a blessing to all who miss him.

As a fellow member of the Mendel High School Class of 1968, Mike and I shared virtually every class, the football field and many hours of non-educational high jinks. I think it's fair to say we all looked up to Mike. Yes, he was our 4-year Class President, and exceptional academically and athletically, but I think, most importantly, everyone in that
our class truly liked and respected him. That was not an easy thing to accomplish in that era, with over 350 teen age boys. His leadership made him destined for the great things he accomplished as a husband, father and in his professional pursuits.
RIP, old friend!

I met Mike decades ago listening to him speak at National Health Law Association meetings. He was a teacher, a mentor and a friend. Those sparkling eyes and that smile. He made everyone feel special. I will miss him.

When I arrived at Mendel in 1964, Mike was the first person I met. I was dragging a load of books, sporting a really bad haircut and wearing clothes that that would have required me to be 40 pounds heavier to fit. Mike, conversely, looked like a young movie star whose company I immediately assumed was well above my social station. To my surprise Mike went out of his way to introduce himself and make me feel very much at home. From that time on Mike was a true friend. I´ll miss the out of the blue phone calls over the years just to catch up and where laughter was always a major component of our conversations. It was only a few weeks ago we spoke and joked about the joys of getting older. I will cherish those conversations greatly. Thank you, Mike, for extending your hand in friendship and welcoming me to Mendel so many years ago. You will certainly be missed my friend... until we share a pint or two in heaven... Sláinte!

Mike was family. We loved and will continue to love the Anthony families from Mike´s Mom, Marge and Dad, Rudy to all the kids.
For sixty-six (66) years from first grade for John, and continuing close relationships with Mary and Pat, Ryan and Sean, Mike was always there for us. He made us better.
Many shared, close friends and experiences helped us grow old together.
Life does go on and Mike will always be with the Farris Family.

Mike was the exceptional human being who was brilliant, a great athlete, a great leader (President of our Class for four years at Mendel Catholic High School) and an all-around great person. However,
he never flaunted his talents and his abilities. He related to everyone, and everyone liked Mike. Mike recently joined the Mendel Alumni Association Board of Directors, and he was looking forward to making the Association better for all Alumni, because Mendel meant so much to him. Mike will be missed. Mike was living proof that "Mendel Men Are Gentlemen." R.I.P. Monarch.

Mike has been my very good friend for over 50 years - we met in college. Throughout my life Mike has been loyally available for a quick laugh , a kind word , a thoughtful reflection. My world just became smaller without this bright life in my life . My thoughts and prayers for Liz and his children - he loved with a huge heart and I will really miss him so much.

I first met Mike in November of 1979 when I joined Ober Grimes & Shriver. Mike left (I don´t believe because I joined the firm) to return home to Chicago where he had a wonderful and successful career. Mike was, above all, a good person - sure he was a great lawyer and a leader, but his kindness and generosity is what distinguished Mike from others. I last saw Mike in San Francisco at the AHLA Annual Meeting and it was great to spend time reminiscing about the "old days." AHLA and the health law bar in general are better, at least in part, because of Mike.

Hard to share just one memory of someone you have known for over 50 years. Suffice to say Mike was not only a great friend but as fine a human being as I have known. I always admired Mike's ability to keep challenging himself while making a succession of meaningful contributions to the world around him...and all the while keeping engaged with the people who loved and needed him. The world is a shallower place without Mike. He will be sorely missed by all of us.

I first met Mike on the occasion of Liz's Birthday. We were miles apart and it was time for our Annual acknowledgement of our shared Birthday. I was calling from Virginia where I was Celebrating and Liz informed me that they were on their way to Paris for her Birthday. I quickly asked did he know it was my birthday too?? We shared a good laugh as we did often after that. Mike fit into our family well as he could have easily been one of our siblings. I remember when he met our parents, they talked for hours and he was fascinated by their life Story. Mike also was a fascinating person and I always enjoyed talking with him about business, travel, music, Concerts they had attended...he had a great joy for Life. What I liked the best, was how they were together and the way he loved my Sister. We will all miss him greatly, and I will always smile when I think of Mike!

Mike was a smart, kind, ethical and thoughtful person. I had the honor of serving with Mike on the Mangement Committee at McDermott Will & Emery and you always knew that Mike was on the side of doing the right thing. What a great partner.
