William Eyring Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Greenwood on Jan. 23, 2026.
William "Bill" Erhard Eyring, Jr., 83, resident of Greenwood, SC, husband of Karen Thacker Collins, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born April 18, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late William Erhard Eyring, Sr. and Grace Jandell Eyring. Bill received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore. He enjoyed a successful career in banking and retired as a Vice President of Bank of America.

Bill was the great-grandson of the late E. Eyring, a prominent builder responsible for the historic Senator Theatre, as well as numerous theaters and churches throughout the Baltimore area.

He was an avid college sports fan, especially devoted to Villanova basketball. Bill loved playing cards and was deeply involved in his community, serving as a Boy Scout leader and coaching many of his sons' sports teams. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly cruises and road trips, and cherished time spent with his family.

Surviving is his wife, Karen; children, William Eyring, III (Michelle) of Indialantic, Florida, Jeffrey Eyring (Kira) of Baltimore, Maryland, Michael Eyring (Kimberly) of Baltimore, MD and Erin Martin (Jeff) of Atlanta, GA; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Collins of Cross Hill; and grandchildren, Delaney Eyring, Annabelle Eyring, Keaton Eyring, Ava Collins, and Mason Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Brian Collins and Adam Collins, and by three siblings.

Bill was an amazing man who gave so much of himself to our community. For many, many years, his dedication and service on the Architecture Committee helped shape and strengthen the place we all call home at Easton Club East. His impact will be felt for years to come, and he will be truly missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Karen and the family. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss.
