Michael Louis Argys of Salida, died peacefully at home September 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on November 12, 1953 to Louis and Mary Jane Argys. He quickly earned the favorite child status and held it to the last day. Mike always loved sports. Throughout his life he played golf, football, wrestling, baseball, softball, and town team basketball. In high school he went to state for wrestling and played on the 1971 championship football team. His love of sports only continued as time went on. He was a bronco season ticket holder until he decided the couch was more comfortable and climate controlled. They were HIS team. His passion for golf came later in years and he loved golf almost as much as the guys he played golf with. While Mike was a hunter of rabbits, birds, and big game BUT truly, what he loved most was the good times spent with family and friends. Mike loved art and his artwork is treasured by his grandchildren and family. Mike worked in the family plumbing business from a young age. He took over Argys Plumbing in 1997 and ran it until his retirement in 2020, at which time he passed the baton to his nephew whom he mentored for 18 years. Mike married the love of his life Janis, August 26, 1994. Through this union he gained his daughter Andi and within 5 months his first grandson Tyler. He loved to say that in months he became a husband, father, and grandfather. 5 years later he was given the gift of two more grandsons. He welcomed and loved his son in law Ryan, and this made his chosen family complete. He cherished every minute with them, watched their locations closely and they were the light of his life. When asked what the best days of his life were he recently noted his wedding day and the days his grandsons and nieces and nephews were born. Mike relished celebrating his Greek heritage and all special occasions of family and friends. His quick wit and charismatic personality always made him the life of the party and his heart made him the favorite of all……. the legend. Mike was welcomed in heaven by Jesus, his parents Louis and Mary Jane Argys, great friends, and extended family members. The anticipation had to be great, and the party was HUGE. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jan, his daughter Andi (Ryan) Culwell, grandsons Tyler Raby, Jordan Raby and Bryce Raby. Sisters, Julie (Mike) Nance, Connie (Chris) Cooper, nieces and nephews Katie, Matthew, David and Megan, many extended family members and many friends who became family. Services will be at Lewis & Glenn Funeral Home Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11:00 am. Celebration of life and lunch will follow at the Elks Lodge in Salida to conclude at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the Micheal Argys Memorial Scholarship Fund.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I graduated from high school with him. I got to know him better after graduation. He was a nice guy, smart and very funny. I remember the championship game in 1971!!
