Michael Edward Astor passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the age of 85.
Michael was born on September 2, 1939 in Dearborn, Michigan. He was a son of Michael and Helen (Timko) Astor. After graduating high school, Mike attended college for a short time before joining the United States Airforce. He had some once in a lifetime experiences in the military; playing football as a tight-end for the Airforce in Germany and worked as a Military Police Officer which lead him to his career choice as a police officer. Mike began working as a police officer for the city of Birmingham and then moved to Troy police department for many years before he retired. He was an avid sports fan of all Michigan sports and was a huge movie buff. Mike loved going out to eat and truly enjoyed a good meal. Above everything, his passion was golfing. He golfed all over Michigan, achieved a hole in one and broke par on Heather Highlands Golf Course. Mike will be missed by those who knew him.
Mike is survived by his children, Chris (Stephanie) Astor, Marina (Miguel) Astor-Garcia and Michael (Shanna) Astor; grandchildren, Amanda (Kyle) Sullivan-Astor, Ashley Astor, Jennah Garcia, Jordan Garcia, Anastasia Astor and Helena Astor; great-grandchildren, Brynn and Beckett; sister, Barbara Mohr; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. Mike is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Astor; brother, George Astor; and parents.
Visitation for Michael will take place Friday, October 4, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank, Macomb. Military Honors will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Fallen Officer Foundation.
