Michael A. Bacigalupo

Winchester, NH - Michael "Iron-Mike" A. Bacigalupo, 71, a resident of Winchester, NH. and formerly of Athol, MA. passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home after a brief period of declining health on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, with the love of family by his side.

He was born a son to the late Frances J. (Kellogg) and William L. Bacigalupo on June 5, 1952 in Athol, MA. Mike attended local schools in Massachusetts and attended Athol High School in Athol, MA. After high school, Mike continued his education at the Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner, MA. earning his associate's degree in Technology and Electronics Engineering and Human Services. Michael was inducted into Whos-Who of American Junior Colleges. He then attended the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) in Amherst, MA.

There would not be time to include all of his accomplishments in local sports and mentoring of youth and adults. He gave to his community with an open heart.

Michael enlisted into the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a Radioman on September 22, 1971. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Michael was honorably discharged on August 23, 1973, at the rank of E2/ RA.

On August 29, 1974, Michael exchanged vows with the love of his life, Bonnie L. LaFrenier. They had a simple service in Gardner, MA. with family and friends celebrating them.

Michael was formerly employed by F.P. International as their N.E. Regional Electronic Engineering Tech for 15 years until he retired in 2012.

Mike enjoyed his time going fishing and hunting, sports, being a big outdoorsman, and being one with nature. He also was a basketball referee, played semi-pro baseball, and was very athletic. Mike was a part of the Vietnam Veterans of America Organization. He enjoyed his simple life playing solitaire and Sudoku while enjoying his vast music collection including every genre you could imagine.

Mr. Bacigalupo is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Bacigalupo of Winchester, their daughter, Julie A. Tomlinson, and her husband, Sean of Worcester, MA. his four siblings, Nancy Bacigalupo of Athol, MA., Richard "Cookie" Bacigalupo of Athol, MA., Mark Bacigalupo of Springfield, MA., and Dawn Maroni of Athol, MA. Mike is also survived by his two grandchildren, Megan Nguyen-Richard and her wife, Linh of Braintree, MA. and Brian Tomlinson of Worcester, MA., along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Michael is predeceased by his parents, his brother, William "Bud" Bacigalupo Jr., and his son Kenneth W. Bacigalupo who passed in 1976.

In keeping with Michael's wishes there are no services at this time.
