Michael David Baughman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 7, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 60.
He was born June 30, 1964 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Michael was the youngest of six children to Roy and Annette Baughman.
Michael attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania majoring in Criminology. During his senior year, he met and fell in love with a classmate who quickly became his soulmate, Charmaine. A year later, they were married. Michael and Charmaine built a beautiful life together and enjoyed 37 years of marriage. Together, they have two children, Tyler and Jenna.
After graduating, Michael started his career as a deputy U.S. Marshal in the District of Columbia Superior Court in 1990. Michael transferred to the Pittsburgh office in 1995 to be closer to family. During this time, he spearheaded the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force. He was promoted to Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal in 2011 and then was presidentially appointed as United States Marshal for the Western District of Pennsylvania in 2019. In 2021, Michael's Alma Mater, IUP, presented him with the Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor given by IUP annually.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife Charmaine; his children Tyler (Allison) Baughman and Jenna (Jason) Mezyk; his grandchildren, Madeline, Colin, Ethan, Jack, and soon-to-be granddaughter; his siblings, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends and extended family.
A viewing and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd.
McMurray, PA 15317 from 2-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if you would like to make a donation, please donate to the National Scleroderma Foundation.
