Michael Ray Bechtol, 57, of Elkhart, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, after a lifelong struggle with heart ailments.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the Church of the Brethren at Ankeny (417 Southeast Grant Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50021). A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, also at the Church of the Brethren at Ankeny. A private family burial service will be held at a later date.
Michael was born February 6, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa to Max and Elizabeth Bechtol. He attended North Polk Community High School and graduated in 1985. Following high school, he attended DMACC and studied computer technology.
In 1998, he moved to Arizona and worked as a Cannon copy repair man for 11 years. Afterwards he moved back to Iowa and became a great independent grounds keeper and handyman for his loving family, friends and neighbors.
Michael is survived by his parents, Max and Elizabeth; his brothers, Dwayne (Nancy) and Shawn (Todd Bulmash); as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Etha Reynolds of Ankeny, Iowa and Thomas and Vivian Clark of Elkhart, Iowa; two uncles; and a cousin.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be mailed to the Church of the Brethren at Ankeny (417 Southeast Grant Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50021) or the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
