Michael Lynn Benjamin, a cherished member of the Ardmore community, peacefully left this world on October 8, 2025, at the Ardmore Veterans Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 31, 1948, in Ardmore, Michael dedicated his life to spreading love and kindness, creating a legacy that will be fondly remembered.
A proud graduate of Douglass High School, class of 1966, Michael Lynn served honorably in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller for four years, a role he carried with pride throughout his life. His professional journey later took him to Seismograph, where he specialized in detecting seismic waves, and IBM Computers, showcasing his commitment and diligence in all he undertook. In later years, he found immense joy traveling with the Harlem Thrillers basketball team, sharing his love for sports and fostering connections with many.
Michael Lynn was a man of deep faith, having accepted Christ at an early age at Corinth Baptist Church under Pastor CM Franks. His spiritual journey was a cornerstone of his life, shaping his kindness and his commitment to helping others. He was known for his great sense of humor, generosity, and warm-hearted nature, which made everyone feel at ease in his presence. Friends and family will fondly remember him for his famous peach cobblers and oatmeal cookies, treats that brought joy to gatherings and celebrations.
In the realm of hobbies, Michael Lynn reigned as the "domino king," often participating in the Big Six domino tournaments. He also found enjoyment in visiting casinos, where he relished the thrill of gaming and camaraderie.
Michael Lynn's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by five brothers: Johnny Clyde Benjamin and Evelyn of Tomball, TX; Kenneth P. Benjamin Jr. of Ardmore, OK; Clayton E. Benjamin and Mary of Lone Grove, OK; Larry W. Benjamin and Patsy of Ardmore, OK; and Kevin A. Benjamin and Tasha of Katy, TX. He also leaves behind one sister, Debra Kay Johnson of Ardmore, along with bonus sisters: Ruth Manuel, Moneatta Williams, Traci Wilson, Stacie White, all of Ardmore and Tonya McCloud of Waco, TX. His family extends further to include his aunt, Barbara Adair of Los Angeles, CA; four nieces: Janice Strawder, Marsha Griffin, Melody Hood, and Lisa Benjamin; nine nephews: Johnny C. Benjamin Jr., Eric Benjamin, Derrick Smith, Mark Benjamin, Michael Benjamin, Jaron Benjamin, Kenneth Benjamin, Chandon Wright, and Mitchell Benjamin; along with God children, Steven Montgomery, Simone Montgomery of Dallas, TX and LaQuinda Jones of Oklahoma City, OK.
He joins in spirit those who preceded him in death, including his mother, Johnnie Mae "Ligons" Benjamin; father, Kenneth Pollard "KP" Benjamin Sr.; two sisters, Betty Dawn Benjamin and Cheryl Ozette Hamilton; brother, Arthur Lee "Butch" Benjamin; his cherished aunt and second mother, Ruby Wilson White; and dear niece, Lori Davis.
Visitation for Michael Lynn will be held at Kirk Funeral Home in Ardmore, OK, on October 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and his funeral service will commence the following day, October 18, 2025, at 12 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church. This gathering will be a time for friends and family to come together to honor and celebrate Michael's remarkable life.
As we bid farewell to Michael Lynn Benjamin, we reflect on his impeccable legacy—a legacy rich with love, laughter, and sweet memories. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
