George Michael Bentley, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Michael and his wife Hue Anna were married for 56 years. They have two daughters and five grandchildren.
A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Michael has lived in St. Louis, Missouri since 1988. After serving in the United States Army, Michael began a long-term career in the international shoe industry working with Munro and Co. for 18 years, followed by leadership roles at Fisher Camuto, Ipanema and Brown Shoe Company before retiring from Footwear Unlimited in 2018.
Through his career, Michael found great professional satisfaction, success and enjoyed many life-long friendships. Upon retirement, Michael and Hue Anna retired to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.
Michael and Hue Anna shared a passion for life on lakes and oceans, enjoying multiple lake homes over the years and traveling extensively to enjoy the beach whenever possible. They shared this passion with their children and grandchildren through camping, boating, fishing, water sports and epic outdoor BBQ's. Michael was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting from a young age and sports including golf and tennis.
Michael is preceded in death by father, George Bentley and mother, Lauretta Bentley; father-in-law Charles Attebury and mother-in-law Dorothy Attebury.
He is survived by his wife Hue Anna Bentley; daughters, Tricia (Robb) Beal and Heather (Anthony) Haan; grandson, Josiah Haan; granddaughters, Emma Haan (Tyler Finnerty), Sophia Haan, Clara Beal and Anna Beal; brother, Joel (Mary Ann) Bentley; sister-in-law, Peggy (Mike) Turbyfill; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Sue) Attebury and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
His family would like to express a special word of thanks to the following caring friends and caregivers: Gail Azu and the entire Azu family, Gary and Pam Smart, Sharon Davis, Jack and Barbara Clements, Mike and Dodie Argo, Mickey and Molly Hennessey, Maddy and Linda Kimball, Denny and Mary Hadian, Jaclyn Jezik, Elizabeth Frichtl, Mike Mooney, Pat Mooney, Mercy Mania, Tina Rice, Ericka McBride, Dr. Lynn A. Cornelius, Nurse Petrina Martin, Dr. Stephen Fuest, Dr. David Holtzman, Nurse Dawn Elliott, Nurse Sarah Houston and the entire staff of St. Croix Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Michael's name to Shriner's Hospital, the Gary Sinise Foundation, St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, Tunnel to Towers and Arkansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
