Michael "Scott" Berry, 51, of Johnston City, passed away at 12:33 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home.
Scott was born on February 19, 1974, in Herrin to Richard Lyle and Anna Mae (Trail) Berry.
Scott was a 1992 graduate of Marion High School. He had passion for working with people with disabilities. He also had a heart for animals and enjoyed breading & showing pitbulls. He adored his dogs Church and Fat Fat. Scott was a family man and loved to spend time with his family. He would often send them messages, reminding them how much he loved them. Scott was a friend to many and loved them all dearly. He also enjoyed grilling, playing games, and spending time in his "dungeon," the man cave.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle DeCoursey Berry; children, Allison Berry of Herrin, Paige Berry of Desoto, Anna (Randy Aguilar) Berry of Johnston City, Justin (Andrea) Dallacosta of Dowell, and Josh (Holly) Dallacosta of Herrin; grandchildren, Connor, Thomas, and Korbin Dallacosta, and one on the way; mother, Anna Mae Berry of Pittsburg; close friends, Joe, Daniel, Toby, and Dwayne; two close cousins, Samantha Bradley and Trisha Berry; one half-sister and one aunt, June Berry.
He is preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Wilburn & Sybil Trail; mother-in-law, Sharon Samples; two half siblings and his dog, Kaos.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Derek Finny officiating.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pyle Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses.
Pyle Funeral Home of Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
