Michael (Mike) Joseph Blake passed away suddenly at his home in Burleson, Texas, on November 29, 2024.
Mike was born on September 12, 1952, in San Antonio, Texas, as the only child of Gordon and Esther Blake. The family moved to Fort Worth where Mike attended school, graduating from Southwest High School in 1971. He then attended Texas Christian University, where he obtained his degree in Business. Mike loved sports and was a lifelong Horned Frog fan. After graduating from TCU, he began his professional career in the aerospace industry in Dallas/Fort Worth. At work, he met his wife, Sonia, and they were married in 1999.
Mike had a pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his plane. He loved going to football games and took great interest in his grandchildren and his many cousins' children. Mike was a mentor and support to many and often knew the right thing to say to make things right. He was always available for late-night chats, using his humor and keen observations to make you laugh. He was a kind and compassionate person who had never met a stray animal to whom he could say no. He loved being a grandfather and was very proud of his family.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Esther Blake, and his wife, Sonia.
Mike is survived by his daughter Courtney Shea (Greg) Werner of Athens, Texas, his grandchildren, Luke, Avery, and Kaden, many cousins, and his lifelong friend, Mike Ryan.
