ABBEVILLE. . .Michael Turner "Mike" Blalock, a resident of Abbeville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. He was 83.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Abbeville Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday in the Abbeville Methodist Family Life Center. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.H.A.R.K Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 126, Abbeville, AL 36310.

Mike Blalock was born in Eufaula and was raised in Abbeville, son of the late William Leonard Blalock and Edith Mills Blalock. He was a 1961 graduate of Abbeville High School where he played basketball and football. Mike served his country in the Army National Guard in the Abbeville unit where he retired after twenty-two years service as a Staff Sergeant. He attended Wallace Community College on a basketball scholarship and also attended Troy University. Mike retired from the City of Abbeville as a Policeman. In earlier years, he worked at the Great Lakes on a ship and also at Cape Canaveral. He was a member of Abbeville Methodist Church. Mike was very active in the City of Abbeville Recreation Department as an umpire and strongly supported Abbeville High School athletics and the Youth Recreation Program.

Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-four years, June Vittoria "Missy" Blalock; his daughters, Marie Blalock Jenkins (Michael), Dothan; and Barbara Blalock Baldwin, Headland; three sisters, Linda Platt and Ellen Wright both of Abbeville and Molly Blalock (Neecie Tarrant), Dothan; grandchildren, Kiley Jenkins, Lola Jenkins, Tucker Baldwin and Turner Baldwin; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Doris Mills, and a brother-in-law, Colonel (U.S. Air Force, Retired), Andrew Vittoria, Jr. (Stephanie).
