Michael Lee Calingasan

Michael Lee Calingasan-known lovingly as Mike, Kuya, Tito Jun, Daddy, and Lolo-passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 82. He resided in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, surrounded by the love of his family.

Michael was born on October 31, 1943, in Ilagan City, Isabela, Philippines. From humble beginnings, he lived a life defined by service, faith, devotion to family, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

A proud veteran, Michael dedicated 22 years of honorable service to the United States Navy. He enlisted in 1969 and retired in 1991 as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7). During his distinguished naval career, he completed three sea service deployments and was recognized with meritorious unit commendations. Beyond his operational service, Michael was deeply committed to mentoring others-serving as a career counselor and speaking publicly at schools and universities, encouraging young people to pursue service, education, and leadership.

Michael was married to the love of his life, Lourdes Nebres Calingasan, with whom he built a family rooted in love and faith. He was a devoted father to Charlene Calingasan, Bernadette Kauffman (Mark), and Tammie Pak (Harrison), and a proud grandfather to Penelope Mikaela Kauffman, who brought him immense joy and lovingly called "my pretty girl".

He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Marilou Segismundo, Carla Lingad, and Bernadette Saddi.

A man of deep and enduring faith, Michael was a devout Catholic throughout his life. Even in his youth, his spiritual leadership was evident-while in high school, he founded a radio station dedicated to daily rosary prayers. In later years, he remained actively involved in the FIAT prayer group under the leadership of Bishop Efren Esmillia, living his faith through prayer, service, and humility.

Michael was known for his wry humor and classic dad jokes, bringing laughter to those around him. He had a passion for travel, especially returning to his home in the Philippines and visiting his daughters in California. He loved good food, Bruce Lee films, Philadelphia sports teams, vintage cars, and trips to Atlantic City. His favorite holiday was Christmas, a season that reflected his joy in family gatherings.

In the final days of his life, Michael found comfort in prayer-especially his cherished prayer to St. Padre Pio, which reflects the depth of his faith:

"Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, by the grace of your Holy Spirit cure the weakness that has overtaken your servant. Expel all the afflictions of mind and body from your servant. Mercifully restore him to full health and enable him the full resumption of former duties to your servant, for you are Lord for ever and ever. Amen."

Michael Lee Calingasan leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, humor, and love. He will be remembered as a dedicated sailor, a faithful servant of God, a loving husband and father, and a cherished grandfather.

He will be forever loved and deeply missed. We love you Daddy.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 29th at St. Andrew R.C. Church, Gibbsboro NJ, from 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery, Camden NJ.
