Michael Carlson was born on September 19 th 1978 in Sacramento, California. He spent his
childhood there and attended school at Our Lady of the Assumption in the nearby town of Carmichael.
Prior to his teenage years, Michael moved to the North Bay Area of California. He attended Analy High
School in Sebastopol and would later live in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, and San Rafael . He worked
primarily in the home improvement, landscaping, and construction fields and even spent a season on a
deep-sea fishing boat. Michael moved back to Sacramento to be closer to family and spent his final
years there.
Michael lived a simple and modest life. He was a physical person and enjoyed the satisfaction of
a hard-day’s work. He cared about his family and friends very much and would do anything for them.
Michael wanted the best for people in general, and he was quick to assist any person in need, whether
he knew them or not. One of Mike’s deepest bonds was with his pit bull dog, Zeus. From the time Zeus
was a puppy, he and Michael were inseparable companions and their adventures were countless.
Michael died at home on January 17, 2026. He had been in poor health for quite some time.
Mike was always one to put others first, and finally his own afflictions overtook him. Michael was
preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Raymond and Yvonne Carlson, and his grandparents.
Michael is survived by his mother, Donna Marando, his stepfather, Mike Marando, his brother
Christopher Carlson and sister Mia Marando, and his sister-in-law, Regina Carlson. Michael is deeply
loved and will be greatly missed. The family’s greatest comforts are in knowing how Mike lived his life,
how many lives he touched, and that he is now finally at peace.
