Michael J. Carter Sr.

Carter, Michael J. Sr. TROY Michael J. Carter Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Waterford he was the son of the late J. Warren and Margaret Bills Carter. He was a 1956 graduate of Lansingburgh High School. Mike was employed as Transportation Manager at Nashua Corp. in Watervliet for 25 years and retired in 1997. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He also was a member of the Kavanaugh Hook and Ladder Co. in Waterford. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and St. Louis Cardinals fan. In addition to his parents Mike was predeceased by his wife Karen Reilly Carter who died in 2015. He is the father of Michael Carter Jr. (Kristen) of Cohoes and Gregory D. Carter of Averill Park; and is the proud grandfather of Matthew, Benjamen, Sarah, Jeremy, Cameron and Makenna. He is the brother of the late John Warren Carter Jr., Carol Yattaw, Patricia Finn and Charles Carter. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford. Interment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
