Michael Cefalo

Michael Cefalo, a lifelong resident of Pittston, Pa., passed away April 22, 2025, following surgery at The University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Michael was a musician who played anything with a keyboard. He began playing in local bands at the age of 14, and was a fan of all types of music, especially rock. In his prime, he was a member of Gold Dust and Star Fires.

After graduating from Pittston Area High School in 1969, Michael attended King's College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where he earned two degrees. He was a CPA, licensed in both Pennsylvania and Florida. Michael worked for several accounting firms, including Laventhol and Horwath. He ended his career as regional Controller for Travelocity. Michael later opened and operated a restaurant in Plains Township called "The Naked Grape."

Michael learned the family craft of making traditional Italian red wine at a young age. He learned from his grandfather, and later his father, utilizing a wine press his grandfather brought to America from Italy. The wine press was still in use.

Michael loved music and animals. He donated to "No Kill" animal shelters throughout his life. He leaves behind two standard poodles named Gertie and Charlie, in honor of his parents.

Michael is survived by his wife, Susan (Stasko); son, Chris and his wife, Anna (Della Cave); Chris's mother, Karen Cefalo; brother, Jimmy (Janice Bruno); nieces: Mia (Luke Bernardi), Katie and Ava; and sister-in-law, Julie Cohen.

He also leaves behind lifelong friends: Danny Argo, Billy Manganaro and brothers, Al and Steve Perry.

Michael was 73. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
