In loving memory of Michael Chek, who left us too soon, we find solace in the beauty of his life and the enduring love he shared with his family and friends. “No sun outlasts its sunset but will rise again and bring dawn,” symbolizing the hope that even in the darkest moments, there is the promise of a new beginning.
He cherished his boys, Aaron and Zane Chek, and his family with a profound love that illuminated him every day. His heart was a vessel of boundless affection, welcoming everyone into its warm embrace. His capacity to befriend and connect with others reflected the kindness and openness that defined his character.
Michael faced alcohol addiction and mental health issues most of his life. This was a struggle that ultimately took him from us. Our hearts bear the weight of the loss, and the void left by his absence will be felt eternally. Amidst the sorrow, we choose to remember the joy he brought into our lives and the countless good memories we shared.
A passionate musician, he lent his talents to bands such as Mayhem and Rigid, and performed locally as part of Daniels & Chek. His love for music was a source of inspiration for those fortunate enough to witness his artistry.
Michael graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1992, and later earned his degree from Kent State University in 1998. His professional journey let him to become a Sanitarian III at the Tuscarawas County Health Department. Later, he ventured into entrepreneurship, specializing in well and septic inspections, until the grip of alcohol addiction altered the course of his life.
He is survived by his two beloved sons, Aaron and Zane Chek both of New Philadelphia; his former spouse, Anne Chek; parents, David and Kathy Chek; sister Michele (Chris) Prosser; nieces, Tyler and Liberty Prosser; and friend, Abby Gano.
The family will greet friends on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 11:00 to 1:00PM in Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory at New Philadelphia. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at 1:00PM. Burial will follow in Schoenbrunn Meadow Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
In honoring Michael’s memory, let us unite in celebration of the vibrant spirit he shared with us all, recognizing the complexity of his journey and the enduring love that will forever bind us together in remembrance.
