Michael W. Cnossen DMD

Dr. Michael W. Cnossen, DMD, "Dr. Mike," went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 17th, experiencing the promise, " to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord."
Mike was born in Whittier, California but spent most of his life in Uxbridge, Northbridge and Douglas, Massachusetts. He was the eldest son of John (Jack) and Debbie (Gray) Cnossen and brother to Tim, Jack and Peter. Their adventures together were marked by laughter, daredevil acts and a comedy of errors - in a word, exuberant. Faith in God and love for each other were at the center of the Cnossen family.
Mike continued this legacy with commitment to his faith, his family and service to others. He was an active member of Valley Chapel (Uxbridge Church of the Nazarene), a former president and faithful supporter of Douglas Camp Meeting Association and a traveler to several countries around the world, extending compassionate care through construction work and dental care to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those less fortunate.
Mike was married to his life-long friend and high school sweetheart, Christie (Shugrue), for 44 years. Together, they raised two amazing daughters: Devon (husband, Michael Alvaro) and Cydney (husband, Matthew Genese); and experienced countless moments of joy with five grandchildren: Clementine, Violet, Jack, Maria and Giancarlo. Mike's family was his greatest treasure on earth; the memories created will sustain them until they are reunited in heaven.
Mike graduated from Uxbridge High School, Eastern Nazarene College (with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry) and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Following in the footsteps of his maternal ancestors, Mike was a fifth-generation dentist. After graduating from dental school, Mike was selected for the United States Army Dental General Practice Residency to extend his clinical experience and have advanced training in dentistry at the graduate level. Upon completion, Mike served on active duty in the United States Army Dental Corps with the rank of Captain. After discharge, Mike returned to the Blackstone Valley, and established Whitinsville Family Dental Center; spending the next 38 years doing what he loved with a staff that earned his deep respect and love, serving his patients with compassion, excellence and the love of Jesus Christ.
Mike sought to live by the instructions of his two life verses:
"He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." Hebrews 12:14.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. in the Valley Chapel, 14 Hunter Rd., Uxbridge.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 29th at 11:00 AM in the Valley Chapel, 14 Hunter Rd., Uxbridge.
