Michael Rodney Conger passed on December 31, 2024, in Union City, GA. Michael was born on October 22, 1947, in Atlanta, GA, to Louise La Port (deceased). He is survived by his sister, Patricia Jones of Union City, GA; his nephew, Danny West; great-niece Haley West; and his stepchildren, Jim Davis and Janey Prevost. He will be missed greatly by his many colleagues and friends.

Michael graduated from Russell High School in East Point, GA, in 1965, and entered the US Army shortly thereafter. He served as company clerk for his unit stationed in South Korea, and was devoted to his country throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, Michael graduated from Clayton State University with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and attended courses at Georgia State University College of Business. He lived most of his life in Fairburn, GA, working at General Trailer Services as a leasing manager for 30 years.

Michael's lifelong passions were spending time in the outdoors, and participating in and watching sports. He was an avid tennis player and snow skier, and most weekends he could be found camping in the north Georgia mountains or hiking trails around the state. He was a voracious reader, always ready to chat about any subject that might come up in conversation. He loved spending time with friends singing karaoke and within his Bible study group. He never missed a Falcons, Braves, or University of Georgia football game; enjoying them even more if he could share the drama of a game with a friend and a cocktail.

A public memorial will be held Sunday January 12, 2025, 1:30 PM, at the Coweta Veterans Club, 130 Veterans Club Drive, Newnan, GA. If you would like to provide a gift in his honor, please do so by donating to the Wounded Warriors Project or the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club.
