It is with deep sadness that the Cote family announces the passing of Michael James Cote, Jr., on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Mike was born on November 19, 1974 in Grand Rapids, MI, and raised in Comstock Park, MI. Mike earned a bachelor's degree in business from Western Michigan University's Haworth School of Business. Mike and his wife, Cristina, were married in 2013 and eventually settled in Ionia, MI. Mike loved working on their country home with his wife Cris, restoring the old buildings, playing with the kids, and planting food on his property for deer season. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Mike will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and charm, his fun-loving spirit, and his love for his family. He was always helping someone out, or receiving help in kind from family, neighbors, and treasured friends. He is survived by his dear wife Cristina (Hathaway) Cote, daughter Natalie (8) and son Jack (4), father Michael Sr., mother Barbara (Hansen) Cote, mother-in-law Barbara Storms, father-in-law Steve (Jenny) Hathaway, sisters Michele (Pamela Powell) Cote and Sara (Kenny) Farabaugh, and brother Jeff (Noreen Finn) Cote, many cherished nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, extended family and dear friends who loved him so much. Please join the family for a visitation Sunday, March 19 at Beuschel Funeral Home in Comstock Park from 2-4pm, with rosary beginning at 3:30pm. The funeral Mass will be at his home parish St. Patrick's in Portland, MI, on Monday, March 20 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a fund to help his wife Cristina and their two young children as they navigate through this difficult time.

May God Bless his soul and give strength to those he leaves behind. I will remember Mike for his great sense of humor. You never knew what he might do next. After a rainstorm in Grand Rapids the window well in my office filled with water, until I looked up and found the goldfish Mike placed there to give me my own unique aquarium. Rest in Peace Mike!

May God Bless his soul and give strength to those he leaves behind. Mike´s humor will always hold a special place in my heart. You never knew what he would come up with next. No one could ever top his prank after a rainstorm in Grand Rapids when I looked up to see not only a flooded window well, but the goldfish Mike put there. Rest easy Mike, the world has truly lost a loving man.

So sad to hear this. I hired Mike as an intern when he was at Western Michigan. He became a full time employee at Steeltech, Ltd. covering different areas of the U.S. I always enjoyed working and traveling with him.

My deepest sympathies to the family. He is always on my mind and in my heart. Loved that kid! He and Steve have been friends since kindergarten although they have not seen each other in the last few years. They had a lot of fun fishing and hunting together. He went with our family to Canada on a fishing trip and had us all in stitches the whole time. Please be comforted by the fact Mike was such an awesome person. So kind and loving!
