On Saturday, August 16, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughters, Michael Dean Cowan was called home by our Heavenly Father.

Michael was born on April 9, 1948. He graduated from Tenino High School in Tenino, WA, in 1967, and went on to join the United States Navy. While enlisted, he was stationed aboard the USS Lynde McCormick, where he served during the Vietnam War.

After leaving the Navy, Michael attended barber college and earned his barber license. He worked in the profession until he was able to purchase his own barbershop, which he successfully operated until his retirement.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Thelma Cowan, and his sister, Peggy Martin. He is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Juanita Rouse and Crystal Smith; sons, Jason Compton and James McDade; along with many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Michael was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water. He also deeply loved sharing the Word of God. He will be missed immensely, but we take comfort in knowing he is no longer sick or hurting, and that he is waiting to be reunited with us again one day.

Michael will receive full Color Guard Honors at his burial in Woodlawn Gardens.

I love you uncle! I hope you fishing and hunting in heaven. You will not be forgotten. Give Aunt Peggy and grandma and papa loves for me. Until we see each other catch some big ones.
