Michael Cranston Obituary

Cranston, Michael W.
BRUNSWICK - Michael W. Cranston, 58, died suddenly, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Born in Atlanta, Ga., he was son of Dayton H. Cranston and the late Linda Rainey Cranston, and stepson of Deborah Passineau Cranston. He was a life long resident of Poestenkill and Brunswick, and was a class of 1985 graduate of Troy High School, and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College.
Michael worked with his dad at Mullally Bros. Refrigeration for many years before starting his own business, C and J Construction. Most recently, he worked as an operating engineer for Construction Force Services.
Michael's legacy lives on through those who loved him most. In addition to his father, he is survived by his two sons, Casey and Jamie Cranston of Vermont, who were his greatest pride. He leaves behind his devoted sister, Kimberly Cranston Premo, and her husband Rick of Brunswick; his cherished nephews, Garret and Brendan Premo; and his fiancée, Susan Brent of Colonie; and her adult son, Devan. While we grieve his passing, we find peace knowing he has been gathered back into his mother's arms, two souls now walking together in Heaven.
Michaels life was a vibrant tapestry of action and melody. Taking inspiration from his dad, he grew up on the ice, skating his way onto the THS Varsity team, and spent his adulthood passing that love for the outdoors, skiing, boating, and fishing, down to his children. He lived for the rumble of his Harley and the timeless soul of the Grateful Dead, always a devotee of the Yankees and the simple joy of a game well played. Michael possessed a brilliant, intuitive mind; there wasn't a mechanical, electrical, or plumbing crisis he couldn't solve with his own two hands. We are left now with the heavy silence of his tools and the profound ache of his absence, remembering a man who knew how to make things work, and how to make life beautiful.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276 Pawling Ave., Troy on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4 to 6:45 p.m., with a funeral immediately following at 7 p.m., with Rev. Jim Knapp, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a 'memorial gift' contribution to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in memory of Michael. We recommend using the brycefuneralhome.com website to share or send condolences, light a candle, view videos or for service directions.
